All poker players can be divided into four groups. All these types of players have their own techniques which can be very useful under certain circumstances. Each style is based on two attributes: Depending on the number of hands the player plays with the players can be either tight or loose. Tight players play few hands and loose players play with a lot of hands. If the player is aggressive (raises and bluffs) or passive (calls other players bets). Loose-Aggressive In an online poker environment this is the weakest category. This player gambles according to the following principle: he raises after every flop. Their strategy often works against poor players and will win a lot of small pots, but online, these players will go broke quickly. Sharks are often attracted by such players. The sharks are fine with letting these players have 10 small pots; they are after the three large pots which will eventually break this player. The only way this strategy works is for the player to wander from one table to another approximately every 50 hands. Loose-Passive This is another weak category. The players of this group will gain success if there are a lot of wild players at the table and everything is determined only by luck. They typically will simply call the bets of the other players disregarding the Pot Odds or strength of their hand. Unlike other players these ones can stay in the game for a very long period of time. But still even they are not able of beating the house. Tight-Passive What allows players of this type to win is other players who play the game wrong. Such players are easy to notice. Players of this type never bluff. If this type of player has a decent hand or a lot of outs, he or she will call your bet or make a small bet. If not, they will fold. Tight-Aggressive This is the best type among all others. These players will only see a flop with a decent hand and will then take a shot at the pot after the flop with a bet.
