While each poker player has their own unique playing and decision making style, there are basically only four main categories of players. Each of these styles has strengths and weaknesses, and each of these styles can be profitable in the correct situation.
There are at least two main attributes for each of these types.
Whether the player is loose and play a lot of hands or tight and play very few hands.
Or the player can be either aggressive or passive. An aggressive player has the following features: he bluffs and raises while a passive player calls the bets of other players.
Loose-Aggressive
In an online poker environment this is the weakest category. The main feature of such a player is that he raises every time after the flop. In a real casino such a strategy will allow to win only small pots, but in online casinos they will be only a flop. Loose-Aggressive players attract sharks. Sharks let such a player has his small pots, but then they are ready to break this player and win all his money. To avoid such results it is better for such players to change tables from time to time. For example, every 50 hands.
Loose-Passive
This is another weak category. The players of this group will gain success if there are a lot of wild players at the table and everything is determined only by luck. They typically will simply call the bets of the other players disregarding the Pot Odds or strength of their hand. Such players can stay in the game longer than anybody else, but they will never be able to beat the house edge.
Tight-Passive
These players can win money simply because there are so many bad players in the online poker rooms. The main weak point is that it is very easy to see and notice such players. Such players never bluff. If this type of player has a decent hand or a lot of outs, he or she will call your bet or make a small bet. If not, they will fold.
Tight-Aggressive
This style can be very successful for online play. They have the following principle of the game: see a flop with a decent hand and then take a shot at the pot after the flop with a bet. Multi-Hand American Poker Pot.
