While each poker player has their own unique playing and decision making style, there are basically only four main categories of players. All these types of players have their own techniques which can be very useful under certain circumstances.
Each of these types has at least two basic attributes.
Whether the player is loose and play a lot of hands or tight and play very few hands.
Whether the player is aggressive or passive. An aggressive player raises and bluffs a lot. A passive player prefers to call the bets of other players.
Loose-Aggressive
In an online poker environment this is the weakest category. The main feature of such a player is that he raises every time after the flop. If playing in a real casino such a strategy works against poor players and allows a player to win only small pots. But in an online casino this strategy will bring nothing but losses. Loose-Aggressive players attract sharks. Sharks let such a player has his small pots, but then they are ready to break this player and win all his money. The only advice here is not to stick to one and the same table. It is better to change tables every 50 hands.
Loose-Passive
This is another weak category. These players can only make money in a game with a lot of wild players and generally have to depend on luck to have a successful poker session. These players always call other players’ bets disregarding their strength. Unlike other players these ones can stay in the game for a very long period of time. But still even they are not able of beating the house.
Tight-Passive
These players can win money simply because there are so many bad players in the online poker rooms. The biggest weakness of a Tight-Passive player is that they are so easy to figure out. Such players never bluff. This player is more likely to call the bets of other players or to make small bets. They fold if they have a bad hand.
Tight-Aggressive
This style can be very successful for online play. They have the following principle of the game: see a flop with a decent hand and then take a shot at the pot after the flop with a bet. Internet Chinese Poker Advice.
